Barack Obama on Twitter
I just happen to have noticed that new US President, Barack Obama, has a (rather large) Twitter following. At the time of writing he is being followed by 129,674 fellow twitterers. That’s quite a number. What I found puzzling and amusing in equal quantities was that ‘he’ is following 133,229 people. That means that roughly three and a half thousand have decided that they don’t want to be connected with Obama.
Can you imagine the rate of change on his page with that many people making updates? It would be impossible to keep track. Of course, we all know that this a clever piece of marketing to ensure that potential voters are/were informed of what was happening with the campaign.
It will be interesting to see how things develops once he has had time to bed in at the White House. Once things start to go wrong, as they invariably do during any administration, will he hold his appeal.
That said, if I was an American, he would’ve had my vote. Has a certain reassuring confidence that makes me feel that he has our best interest at heart. Time will tell If I’m a shrewd judge of character or not.
